Ecuadorian government investing in single-teacher schools to reach rural areas

The Ministry of Education has determined that 60 single-teacher schools will be reopened in the Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago regions. The ministry performed an analysis and determined that there are certain areas that require these institutions. Since 2018, 14 of these schools have been reopened. In Azuay there are 78 students already benefiting from these reactivated institutes; in Cañar there are 26 and in Morona Santiago 224. These schools are located in rural zones and in Communitarian Intercultural and Bilingual Centers (CECIBs).
