‘Mision Manuela’ arrives in Cuenca

Mision Manuela is part of the “Toda Una Vida” national development plan charged with guaranteeing protection, support programs, and assistance to people with disabilities through public policies and social development programs.

Starting in May, Mision Manuela’s workers will start the process of locating Cuencanos to enroll them and their families into public programs that provide health education, social inclusion, and public housing assistance.

“We’ll identify those handicapped citizens and their household, in order to continuously help them. We’ll be focusing on assisting those in vulnerable situations or extreme poverty situations,” said Gabriela Aguilar, manager of Mision Manuela in el Austro region.

Mision Manuela’s is a team of two supervisors, seven technicians, and 21 social workers who have already surveyed cantons Sigsig, Cañar, and Morona.

The Public Health Ministry has requested that recipients of  Mision Manuela’s services mark their homes with a white flag to identify them for future data collection.
