Ministry lowers health professionals’ internship payment, students protest

Early this April, a document was leaked to all the medicinal schools around the country. The document, signed by the Minister of Health, Veronica Espinosa, and the Minister of Work, Andres Madero, established a reduction of the ‘stipends’ for the health professional interns. The inter-ministerial agreement was put into place on April 26th. It represents a reduction of about 40% of the stipend; affecting all medical, nursing and nutrition interns.
