Via Cuenca – Girón – Pasaje will be closed for 14 hours between June 17th and 18th due to pipeline replacement work in the Vivar sector, which also necessitates a partial closure elsewhere.

The pipeline replacement and asphalt improvements will require two closures on the Cuenca – Girón – Pasaje road. The first closure will occur at kilometer 118 (near Santa Isabel) in the Vivar sector, where sewer replacement work is ongoing.

The Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) has announced that the total closure will be from 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17th, until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. Light vehicles are advised to use the alternative route via Chilcaplaya – Uzhcurrumi – Quera. Large vehicles can use either the route Cuenca – Molleturo – El Empalme – Puerto Inca – Machala or Zhud – Cochancay – Puerto Inca – Machala.

Additionally, a partial closure will affect one lane of the road at kilometer 37, near the entrance to the Girón canton, from June 17th to June 21st. This closure is necessary for road improvement work spanning 400 meters in the direction of Cuenca – Santa Isabel.

All vehicles should use the alternate route via Pacaybamba street – Simón Bolívar – Leopoldo Peñaherrera – Luciano Vallejo – 3 de Noviembre bridge to rejoin the main road for continued travel.
